What would they have had to gain? Fox news would just pivot around it and move on. Trump was already a convicted rapist, tons of catholic priests are forgiven among their community for child rape, so it’s not hard to imagine Trump walking away clean from the whole thing.
Meanwhile, dems probably had a couple big donors to lose and possibly a former president. Sounds like a bad trade when the whole party’s MO is to keep their hands clean and never play dirty.
Some states allow citizens to propose ballot measures if they get enough support, which then get put up to vote in the next election and become law, but both parties hate the practice and fight it wherever they can. No such thing exists at a national level though.

“Costs more to repair than it’s worth” is a useless distinction. You’re not buying your car again, so that number doesn’t mean anything. The only metric for how much a car costs is how much it would cost to repair versus the cost of a new car. Almost always, a new car is more expensive than continuing to repair an old car.
Do you have a car payment? If so, don’t buy anything until it’s paid off. Are repairs costing you more than a new car’s payment? If so, look into replacing it.
You definitely shouldn’t consider switching to a completely new mode of transportation to replace your car without first trying it out and keeping the car as a backup. Make a list of all your transport needs, where have you gone in the past year? Is there a viable car alternative for all of those things?

Being able to run on everything is nice, but what you’re actually asking for here is for a highly skilled (and rare) distro maintainer to dedicate substantial amounts of time to maintaining and testing thousands of packages on 32 bit systems in case someone wants to use it. It’s not just like users get to click a button and voila, they can run more games than before.
If you really need to use 32 bit software, eventually you’ll just have to manage it yourself because no one else is able to do it for you. That capability will almost never go away.
