California Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell leads calls for Homeland Security Secretary to step down after senator forcibly removed from her press conference on Thursday

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is facing calls to resign after California Democratic Senator Alex Padilla was forcibly removed from her press conference in Los Angeles on Thursday and pinned to the floor.

The incident sparked uproar, with California Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell among those calling for Noem’s resignation.

“Kristi Noem should resign for what has happened under her watch,” Swalwell told NewsNation’s Joe Khalil.

Did nobody hear her say that the national guard is there to “liberate” the city from their local and state officials? It was in that very same press conference. I get that there’s a lot to track right now, but that seems like a bigger deal to me

Swalwell was incorrect to say that Padilla was arrested. As the senator clarified at his own press conference, he was handcuffed but not arrested or detained.

My brother in Christ, what do you think detainment is? You were pinned to the ground and handcuffed by federal officers. That’s the textbook definition of “detained”.

Ha. Asking a fascist to resign for fascist action in a fascist government. I mean, worth a try, right?

    Wish in one hand…

    Good god that woman’s face…

If we keep mocking her appearance, drumpf will can her himself. Once the mocking starts happening, the Moron-in-chief will distance himself with “I didn’t know her.” BS then bam, fired lol

What stuck out to me was how differently the Democrats and Republicans present for the moment had such different recollections and perspectives on what actually happened. Leavitt claimed Padilla “lunged” at Noem. According to the article, he didn’t even get half a question in before he was “bundled” by FBI and security. Really makes you wonder who’s telling the truth ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ more importantly than that it goes to show the truth doesn’t even matter. Assholes like that can lie blatantly and those that want to believe what she says will simply take her word…or perhaps worse, see the truth for themselves and deny it anyway.

It’s all just sound bites to use on Fox News. There is no truth. I don’t see a way back for you either. It’s happening here in the UK too. Everyone just wants to stay in their little echo chamber.

I mean, if we’re talking wishes, why not go big AF? I might tune in if her head exploded on live TV to reveal to the world the scales underneath. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’m pretty sure we’re not in that timeline, though.

Gee democrats don’t go too hard on them or anything. Maybe we could do a nicely worded letter instead?
