I once caught a cab in Belfast and, in the 15 or so minutes, the driver revealed he was a former paramilitary fighter, and recounted a conspiracy theory about the sinking of the Titanic having been faked as an insurance scam.
They really went the extra mile on the scam to put a boat on the bottom of the sea. Say what you will, but you gotta give it to them for their commitment to the bit.

It’s especially high-effort considering that the front fell off and is now nowhere near the rest of the boat.
Is that typical?
That’s not very typical, I’d like to make that point.
Ive heard the world bank/some kind of monetary policy theory, but I don’t think I’ve heard the insurance scam before.
1: Sell a bunch of tickets
2: Sink ship
3: Insurance pays out the finished value of the ship, obviously greater than building costs, plus you still have the ticket sales.
4: Guaranteed profits! Invincible even!
