How does Tin Soldier manage to be this bad with De Niro and Foxx in the cast? Painful and took me a month and 10 sittings to finally finish this movie.

    Thanks for the heads-up!

    PSA, y’all:

Just like any book, you can walk away from a shite movie, too.

Let yourself have that power over what you choose to consume/ingest and you’ll find yourself more often and more easily enjoying said product, much less the activity itself.

You don’t have to “finish what’s on your plate”, friends & neighbors. 🖖🏼

That old saying’s just another bullshit echo from past generations’ corporate memery. [eg. Great Depression, etc.] 🤌🏼 (Not unlike retconning Popeye to eat tinned spinach 🤢 [instead of raw garlic, originally] to sell more aluminum cans “for the war effort” and spoon-feeding some Patriotism® on the same shovel —despite the boiling & canning process leeching said spinach of almost all nutritional value.)

Also, OP, with respect: De Niro is a personal metric for quality? Ya lost me. AFAICT, De Niro hasn’t been a reliable performer for a long time, (sighs in The Irishman) … but I’m genuinely curious about your take on that.

I do agree that it’s unfortunate Foxx & Leguizamo are involved, but at least they’re getting work, I guess? IMHO, Scott Eastwood’s the Temu reboot of his father’s aged legacy, at best. (Kyle’s talented, though.) It’s pretty clear that someone just threw money at this idea, and hoped that’d be enough to pad the CV of a nephew/subordinate/etc.

Hahah, you’re right, I probably should have walked away from this but I really like De Niro… still don’t know why I punished myself but oh well.

The last few movies (Killers of the Flower Moon, Father of the Bride, Part 3) and TV shows (Zero Day, The Wizard of Lies) I watched, I really enjoyed. I actually liked the Irishman! I really do enjoy a good script and good actors, but it’s debatable what appeals to me might not necessarily appeal to another person. Are the recent content as good as say Casino, Taxi Driver, Heat etc… I don’t think so.

10 sittings? I’d have probably given up after 3 or 4 (though I really prefer to watch a movie all in one go). Do you normally watch movies broken across many different sittings?

I have a very short attention span unfortunately, if I get bored after 10 minutes I move on to another. It’s not uncommon for me to watch a movie in 2 sittings due to time, work, gym etc. Weekends if I’m not gaming then I’ll be able to watch a few movies in 1 go.

I really like Foxx, Leguizamo and De Niro, that’s the only reason why I finished it. The same reason why I watched Armor and Alarum “starring” Stallone, but compared to these 2, Tin Soldier is perhaps a bit better lol, surprisingly I actually watched both these movies in 1 sitting.

The intro was weirdly confusing, then the singing started and the description on Amazon is wrong (it says fox is investigating a cult, but he’s the leader)

Then it becomes very boring for a while then I shut it off.

    Truly, a terrible experience
