For authoritarians, disagreement is treason and beliefs are a forgone conclusion.

It’s already overpriced, but they will keep doing this as long as enough people tolerate it to make the numbers go up.
We already no longer own games. It’s been that way since the DMCA robbed consumers of digital ownership. If your game includes DRM or a EULA, you don’t own it.
Google disagrees. In fact, the company tells the BBC “Trust us, bro.”
Non-AI summary.
The mistake you are making is assuming religious people are capable of logic, reasoning, or changing their minds. God himself could appear and tell them they are wrong and they wouldn’t believe it, because their existing beliefs are a forgone conclusion. They did not arrive at them by reason or logic and they will not be moved by reason or logic.
I agree that we have reached a point where things will only continue to get much, much worse without widespread and overwhelming violence against the authoritarians. Both those in power and those following them.
The problem is that authoritarians are primarily motivated by the irrational fear of violence. This fear justifies their violence, but nobody else’s. And they currently control the government, military, etc and therefore overwhelmingly more violent force than any resistance is likely to muster. On the other hand, authoritarian followers are predisposed to accept what they are told by the leaders of their in-groups, so when peaceful protests are called “violent riots” they will believe it unquestioningly and nothing whatsoever can or will change their minds. Hence, peaceful protest is no defense against the accusation of violence and subsequent right-wing violence. This is why abortion is such an easy topic for social dominators to leverage when inciting their authoritarian followers: it’s “evidence” that their opponents are inherently violent, against babies.
And again, reason and rationality have no part in this. The followers want to believe their out-group is violent and evil, they fear violence, so they will believe it because it reinforces their existing beliefs (a fear of violence, etc).
BTW, Democratic politicians in Missouri were assassinated this morning, and it’s not currently being widely covered by the news. So that take that how you like.
This is my own approach, to a T. If you make me wait, I’ve lost interest. There are so many amazing games out there, many from more deserving indie studios, that the competition for my attention and money is fierce. This goes for delayed releases and releases that launch with malware like Denuvo. It’s very unlikely that I will ever touch either, even at a steep discount.
“It’s quite a shock. You get to know these guys, you become their friends—not just an employer but a friend,” he told NBC6
I hadn’t heard of that book before. Looking it up, it’s a book about the psychology of authoritarianism, backed by research and receipts. I’ll add it to the top of my reading list. It also seems to be available for free on the author’s website. Thank you for this.
45% disapprove the National Guard deployment, while 38% said they approve.
So 38% are enemies of Constitution and country.
Unconstitutional. They are now categorically a occupying enemy force.
Yes. At the same time it weakens Section 230 in order to create additional free-speech weakening censorship opportunities.
Precisely. Note that Israel is currently holding many other members of the flotilla hostage. The excuse is that the crew are refusing to sign “deportation” paperwork… but how do you “deport” someone who never taken a breath within your borders?
I have to admit, of all the nations on earth, I never expected this sort of puritanical theatrical authoritarianism out of the french.
The sad thing is that nobody knew there was a doomsday clock.
WebOS was amazing. I was convinced it was the future of mobile computing. iOS was completely proprietary and Android was a dumpster fire. But HP was the worst buyer imaginable. It’s such a shame. What could have been?
