Doomsider@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it common for hetero women to enjoy taking charge during intimacy and switch between who's leading? (I was raised in a traditional family so I'm dumb)1·7 hours agoThank you for a clinically dry examination of BDSM. First, I am not talking about cosplayers and people who like to be spanked. Second, having met a lot of people into BDSM it is not healthy and detached acts like you describe.
What it is mostly is ritualized reenactment of trauma. Orgasm and sexual pleasure is also a extremely strong reinforcement. This leads to an unhealthy feedback loop.
I get it. Edge lords think everything is permissable under the sun. I will admit some curiosity on my part about different and unusual things. Curiosity quickly turned to disgust when I realized the reality of human nature.
Misogynists love power and control and are drawn to BDSM and the amount of unhealthy power dynamics like finding new partners to abuse is very real in the culture as are acts like choking, abuse, and rape.
I think clinically looking at this issue belays the reality and trauma most of its members participate it. Is there safe BDSM between consenting adults? Perhaps but there is much more psychological and physical abuse going on than they are willing to admit
So no, they don’t get to be lumped into all the other sexual expression and get a free ride on the permissable train in my book. Having personally witnessed several people get real fucked up it is not cool.
Doomsider@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it common for hetero women to enjoy taking charge during intimacy and switch between who's leading? (I was raised in a traditional family so I'm dumb)17·19 hours agoLol BDSM is not really common or acceptable. Nor should it be. It is amazing how far extremists have attempted to push the goalpost in this regard.
We already learned this in the 80’s when psychologists were pushing primal therapy. Abusing yourself or others just leads to wanting to abuse more. A self-fulfilling prophecy if you will.
I am all for sex positivity, but pretending it is okay to hurt yourself or others because “consent” is just stupid. It is like the whole choking people during sex. Brain damage is the opposite of sexy.
Control in this regard is likewise the polar opposite of love and caring in a relationship. Society would be better off without these sick cunts pushing their ideology in movies and print.
Everything else you said is on point though

You allude to something that turns out to be even worse. Reality is often worse than you typically imagine.
At any rate, yes there are a bunch of people excited to capitalize on climate change. Buy up land, move production, etc. It turns out you can make a lot of money off of human suffering!

This is secondary to giving him attention though. It was the media that not only breathed life back into the husk he was, but then kept the abomination of the soulless zombie businessman alive with constant support. It is not a coincidence or just media not being able to help themselves.
It was a coordinated effort that took an enormous amount of social currency to pull off. This was coordinated by a network of wealthy people who literally willed this to happen. These people are the real story. This is what we are really facing.
Doomsider@lemmy.worldto politics @lemmy.world•Trump and the American People — Two Ships Crossing in the Night6·4 days agoYou are probably missing a lot of pieces of this puzzle as I was and still am. It is hard though, to wade through all the useless propaganda honestly.
It is 2002, Trump as we knew him was dead. A failed businessman surrounded by his crumbling empire. Only his massive past wealth keeping him floating in a sea of debt.
The producers of the Apprentice were looking for a candidate for their new show. Trump’s was one of the people being considered for the position.
When they first approached him the staffers commented on how run down his office was. The carpet was rotting, the light fixtures missing bulbs. The place was a disaster. It literally stunk.
Trump himself was not much better. They spent a ton of money renovating his office area to make it bearable to film in.
They remade the man as well. They created a new persona, an acting role for the one-trick pony of a man. This became the foundation for his come back and why we have the Trump we do today.
He really is a story of why wealth is morally wrong. The worst person doing the worst things his whole life and only falling upwards because of privilege and money. Truly a representation of all that is wrong in the US.
Doomsider@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•[Politics] What is, in your opinion, a necessary set of minimal restrictions on freedom of thought, speech and expression?11·4 days agoYour premise that any restriction on any thought, speech, or expression can cause unintended consequences is nonsensical.
You would have to prove this and while I may be inclined to agree with you what is the problem with unintended consequence? Why should we care considering everything we do causes unintended consequences.
All tools as well as laws can be abused. A poster here pointed out that anti-hate speech laws are being used against pro-palestine protestors. Does this make the law itself the problem or its application. Should we eliminate the law because a few corrupt politicians are abusing it.
There is nuance though. Like if every country was abusing anti-hate speech law and not enforcing it when its application would be beneficial for society. In this scenario you may have an argument for the law being the problem. Ultimately though if you have a bad actor it is hard to judge a tool or law unless it helps to create the bad actor.
Do anti-hate speech laws create the atmosphere for hate to proliferate? This is how you would judge it in my opinion. If the tool or law creates the problem it purports to solve then it is likely an issue.
I think your personal aversion is fine. I personally don’t like to be controlled and I don’t like to control people. Obviously what your personal opinions are and what it takes to run a team, a corporation, or a country are not in the same realm. You simply can’t run a country like you would run your life.

Industry shills will show up on a obscure message board that only a handful of people have ever seen. They are everywhere, they are here.
Powers that would make the US blush!? Give me a fucking break. The US spies on all communication in the entire world.
Proton is a joke and their CEO is an obvious fascist. It was stupid to think a corporation is the answer to privacy anyways. They obey all countries rules and turn over your information the moment they are asked by governments.
The future of privacy in Switzerland is in the hands of the citizens. Let’s hope they make the right decisions and encourage them to do so.
If these corporations really cared about privacy they would be promoting laws to make it enshrined in our constitutions. The reality is privacy is just another way to market to the masses who don’t know better.
My cynical side says these “privacy” focused corporations not wanting privacy to be enshrined in law is because then every business would be privacy minded and their marketing advantage would quickly disappear.
