  • I’m not familiar with the above distros, but I’m pretty certain there’s more people on Ubuntu which helps a lot with troubleshooting and finding solutions online. One option is, when installing any Linux OS, is to create a separate partition for “home/”. that way, you can reinstall any other Linux based OS, and keep most of your files installed.

Excel doesn’t work on Linux, but LibreOffice and Google sheets do.

  • Sadly, that won’t happen if both D’s and R’s have people or large financial supporters on the list. Best case I can imagine is that those top people end up in jail which shakes up both parties. The 2 party system is a result of our voting system (winner takes all for most positions), so it’s bad to have a 3rd party similar to your own (which gets your own voters potentially siphoned off), or have be a 3rd party similar to another party (which means you’re weakening the party closest to your own, and helping the party most different from yours). regardless of whether it affects the 2 party system, getting that list published is important for justice.

  • I don’t get how you can think Taxes aren’t the answer but removing stocks are. Billionaires exist because they have a lot of money in some form and are able to reinvest that money to get more money. If you remove stocks, they will find another way to have a lot of money, whether that’s owning a lot of business, buying up properties etc. Start applying a sort of wealth tax, disallow financial influence in election (putting actual limits on spending), fix the loophole for passing on wealth to children with little to no tax, etc. There really isn’t a simple solution, but a wide range of changes that need to be done in my opinion.

  • Not domeone who has given up gaming, but I stopped gaming for a bit with the hope I would be more productive. Not long, short bursts of a couple of months. I hated it because I would still spend time doing “unproductive” things, but even worse, it felt like I wasn’t doing anything actually fun. Like, I’m scrolling on Reddit or Lemmy for like 2 hours? Sure I read quite a bit, but there’s a lot of uneducationa posts, as well as a lot of time spent scrolling because I was on it for so long that the good posts I got through quickly.

At least with video games, I get a sense of learning, and challenging myself.
