TBH, I seriously considered going strapped to the protest today. But I think I’d rather be a martyr than be the guy who shot someone at the protest even if it was to defend myself and my fellow protestors. At least that’s my thinking now while violence is unlikely in my town. If violence gets more prevalent and more expected, I might change my mind.

That’s why it’s so important that old farts like me get out there and fight so people like you, who have a lot more to lose, won’t have to. This is a battle/war that us old ones can actually participate to save our young.

This is what the murderer wanted. To scare us. Canceling the protest will encourage more of this violence. I went to a protest today anyway and it was the largest we’ve ever had in my town. Grow a pair and get out there. Democracy and freedom aren’t free and demand that we sacrifice to protect and maintain it.

ICE’s behavior has emboldened criminals to impersonate ICE agents to rob and kidnap people. This is going to end very badly indeed because a reasonable person would arm themselves when this becomes as common as it is likely to get. And a lot of people are going to get shot and killed.

Sometimes you have to just suck it up and act/vote to reduce harm. That’s called reality. It’s like taking chemo if you have a fatal cancer. Chemo SUCKS and you might die of cancer anyway, but if you don’t go through it, you will certainly die.
