Great to see my parents found an actual picture from when they were young of their walk to work…
Novamdomum@fedia.ioto ADHD@lemmy.world•What is an ADHD hack to sit in a meeting for a whole week?3·11 days agoOh oh I’ve got an actual potentially brilliant solution for you! 😁
It’s called an Infinity Cube. I’ve bought like 20 of them and given most of them away (I have 2 now lol). They’re not expensive but they have made a huge difference for me in being able to listen to people, period. I also use it for all the meetings I go to and in fact now I really notice what a struggle I go through if I forget to bring one.
The one I linked is made of smooth black, rigid, silky material and has a perfect weight to it. It’s also very quiet so people won’t notice you’re cycling it. I say cycle because that’s kind of what it does in a sort of infinite loop and I think that’s why it’s so perfect for the brain squirrels.
The other interesting thing I’ve noticed about it is that people more towards the AuDHD end of the spectrum don’t vibe with it at all. Letting someone I’m talking to play with it has almost become a way to stealthily test if they are my flavour of ADHD hehe

I’ve always been a little obsessed with Sopwith Camels because they are one of the prettiest but also most insane things to fly into battle with. ROF does an excellent job or giving me that fix :) Also ROF is free to play (and the DLC with the Sopwith right now is super cheap).

Yep
1 - Squeeze paste into mouth so you can sense exactly how much you’re using. 2 - Wet toothbrush (because everyone knows that magically removes anything nasty in the bristles). 3 - Put in mouth and spread paste around and only then switch toothbrush on. 4 - Divide mouth into 8 segments and brush 2 segments at a time till the brush signals 30 second mark. 5 - Get really bored at how long this is taking. 6 - Either tough it out to the 4 stop/starts signalling the end of 2 minutes or give up half way through and brush everything really hard for 5 seconds.
It’s like some switch is just flicked off. I’ve had it happen mid bite! Nom nom… click… done with this forever.
Novamdomum@fedia.ioto Europe@feddit.org•Hungary: Police say won't prosecute Pride participants despite ban23·16 days agoHistorically, once a popular movement had taken to the streets in large numbers, a dictatorship’s only move used to be ultra-violence. Now, in a hyper-connected world they have to do a much more detailed cost/benefit analysis. So, the pride march was in defiance of the governments wish not wishing for a different government. Basically, this didn’t rise to the level of an existential crisis for the leadership so they are pulling back and using PR to deal with the image issue. The real cost for them, I suspect, is that now there’s precedent, so the next pride march may have an easier time. Let’s hope so 🌈

Novamdomum@fedia.ioto News@lemmy.world•Trump's tariff talk is all for "show," insiders admit5·16 days agoIs there any evidence of him selling and buying at the right moment? Cos it’s always seemed like such an intellect free strategy to me. It’s like he’s saying “Ooh you other countries, if you don’t do what I say I’ll make Americans pay YOU a lot more for your goods!”. No wonder so many financial experts around the world seem utterly befuddled by this.

Turns out it has very little to do with Islam and a lot to do with just being a horrible, poorly educated human being. What I found out was that people be killin their wives and daughters for what they perceived as dishonouring them since way before Islam came along. If anything, Islam tried apply some brakes on that whole idea. For example demanding that four male eyewitnesses had to actually have seen the act for it to be recognised as legit. This article is quite interesting.
Edit: Sorry. I just saw this post getting re-posted in a bunch of other places. Hadn’t realised it was part of an anti-islam social media push. Didn’t mean to get in the way. Carry on.
Novamdomum@fedia.ioOPto ADHD@lemmy.world•The ADHD genie ain't ever going back in the lamp...41·25 days agoWow :) you’re the only one to engage with my post and not the throwaway bit at the end when I randomly thought about dentists.
So I can easily describe to you how my behaviour became less masked using the “golden retriever” analogy. My energy has often been described by close friends as being “golden retriever” like, a bit like Dug, the dog from UP. Kinda goofy and positive and bouncy. Before I knew about ADHD I used to keep that fairly hidden except to friends. Now that I know why I behave like that I can be a lot more me, a lot more of the time. I’m a much happier person for it too.
My leading theory at the moment is that now I feel the world understands and accepts ADHD a lot more, I’m not only dropping the masks I show the world but possibly also the unconscious masking of my behaviour from myself.
I’m still trying to understand the ins and outs of it though hence the question in here. I just wish I hadn’t got distracted and added the random thought about dentists. It seems to have triggered a few people. Probably dentists 🤣
Novamdomum@fedia.ioto Games@lemmy.world•What are your favourite single-player games without much fluff, grinding or difficulty spikes?2·26 days agoI feel exactly the same as you. I have ADHD so fluff is painful and pointless grind is just depressing. I thought the most obvious way to recommend my favourites would be to go by hours played, so here’s my top four:
My Time At Portia - 594hrs Hardspace Shipbreaker - 498hrs Kingdom Come Deliverance - 370hrs Just Cause 3 - 255hrs
Special mention too for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (164hrs) because that is one well made game in almost every respect. Very little fluff, grind and you’re always in control of how big a challenge you feel like facing. To my mind it makes all the other AC games look clunky and drab.
Also I hate difficulty spikes so much that whenever they happen and just seem to be there so the devs can grind a few more hours of playtime out of you for their analytics, I just reach for WeMod. Big shout out to WeMod in fact :) It’s made so many games I’d abandoned fun again.

Novamdomum@fedia.ioto News@lemmy.world•Venice activists plan to disrupt Jeff Bezos's wedding56·1 month agoI mean… just look at them… 😲 Is this the life that’s supposed to be the goal we should all be striving for? Look at those frozen, plastic faces. The soulless eyes. It’s like they’re just screaming silently inside. HOW IS ANY OF THIS A GOAL?!? This is why money frightens me.
I give up, you win.
Two words that have no relevance to that headline but are just there for clicks: “China” and “Ukraine”.
The headline is probably more like “Over sensitive flower at a University over reacts when one of two people who shboinked brags a little too much about it”.
