  • Yup.

Keep in mind that this is positive for foreign business interests like the ones that would get to mine those minerals, or foreign Big Ag that’s buying up farmland. All of those would have easier time to acquire more of those resources for cheaper and extract higher profits, offloading more negative externalities on the majority of Ukranians.

Also accession to the EU would require reforms in the opposite direction from this. The vested interests making these changes are making Ukraine’s EU prospects more difficult.

  • Oof. Yeah. Looking at some capacities, while PoS1 is large, it’s not nearly as large as the total capacity of pipelines going to Europe at their peak. And yeah I’m aware of the renewable push, it’s why I’m mostly considering gas for industrial use such as steel, fertilizer, and other chemical production. At this point I think Xi and the CCP are smarter than Merkel and the CDU. :D

  • Interesting. The problems on the European side make sense but do they really have issues with China getting more gas from them? China should be in great need of gas for industrial power and precursor, but I’ve no idea how that compares to the current supply. Maybe they don’t need any more than what they’re getting. One thing’s for sure though, China knows Gulf fossil fuel supply is gonna disappear overnight in an event of a serious conflict with the US, so they have to rely on Russia.
