If you use 3 slices of ham in a regular sandwich, you will need 9 slices to create the scaled version of the pictured sandwich.
In comparison to an ordinary sandwich.
Ordinary sandwich: 2 bread 1 ham. Pictured trianglewich : 3 bread 3 ham.
I was in Rome last week and pleasantly surprised to see how many tiny cars they use.
There were plenty of Smart cars, but also many other ultra minis like Citroën AMI, XEV Yo-Yo and Renault Twizy.
They’re not just concept cars or used as gimmicks like elsewhere. People actually use them for their daily business.
The traffic in Rome is insane though. The reason they use tiny cars isn’t that the roads are small, but due to congestion and parking. It makes very little sense to own a car there at all.

The only ones who talk about trying are often the ones who have difficulties with it. They could be getting a baby through insemination or fertility treatment and need time off for that etc.
Probably more than that.
There’s 50% more bread, but 200% more ham.

The bridge horizontal curvature is based not only on structural reasons, but also on improving the user experience - by walking on a curved bridge, a person can better perceive the destination.
There rest of the tactic is to be prepared for a yes.
Nothing worse than “oh, cool, so, uh…whatcha wanna do?”
That’ll turn a yes into a no really fast.
bstix@feddit.dkto News@lemmy.world•Why a professor of fascism left the US: ‘The lesson of 1933 is – you get out’1·2 days agoYes, I got an unexpected amount of emotional replies. The whole thread is very interesting that way.
It seems like lots of people are extremely complacent.
bstix@feddit.dkto News@lemmy.world•Why a professor of fascism left the US: ‘The lesson of 1933 is – you get out’2·2 days agoThat’s what refugees do. And they’re allowed to. Persecution as it is happening in America right now is an international crime. If you’re the victim of persecution you can get eefug status.
bstix@feddit.dkto News@lemmy.world•Why a professor of fascism left the US: ‘The lesson of 1933 is – you get out’21·2 days agoOf course that’s the reason. I never claimed otherwise.
So we do agree that people with no money are capable of walking 4000 kilometers. Yet, it is somehow impossible for people in America to walk 500 kilometers, because “America is just too big” and “being financially trapped”.
bstix@feddit.dkto News@lemmy.world•Why a professor of fascism left the US: ‘The lesson of 1933 is – you get out’66·3 days agoSure, but what about them?
In most cases they’re just lines on a map that don’t actually exist physically in the real world.
bstix@feddit.dkto News@lemmy.world•Why a professor of fascism left the US: ‘The lesson of 1933 is – you get out’68·3 days agoI know of people in Denmark who walked by foot from Syria during the last refugee exodus. They came to Denmark from Norway, because they crossed the border in the arctic between Russia to Norway.
Try to plot that route into your map and then go on complaining about strolling through a few states in USA.

Better ask an electrician.
The devices sold as “EV wall chargers” are not really chargers. They’re simple power suppliy units, whether or not it has bells and whistles to time the charging and what not.
The actual battery charger is in the car. It will attempt to suck as much energy from the PSU as it can and it will itself balance the load and all that. Having a separate unit also trying to regulate the load seems like something that will inevitably create more heat than necessary somewhere in that chain.
Generally speaking you do not need to protect the car from unstable supply. It will protect itself.
I will still recommend getting a proper “EV charger” to ensure that it can utilize all the phases unlike a regular garage plug. Also to ensure that it is properly grounded, which can be an issue for some cars.
At least here in Europe, where we have 3 phases. It’s much better to have all 3 phases wide open and let the car suck a little on each, instead of having it overloading a single phase through a granny plug.
I know the American 2 phase circuit is different, but I still believe it’s better not to put any more heat inducing obstructions in the chain.
bstix@feddit.dkto News@lemmy.world•Why a professor of fascism left the US: ‘The lesson of 1933 is – you get out’625·3 days agoHow did you get financially trapped?
People in the rest of the western world and also mostly elsewhere in the entire world can actually travel.
What do you have to lose if you can’t walk away from where you are? You already lost your freedom and can no longer go anywhere else, because finances? In the richest country in the world?
If I ever find myself in that kind of serfdom without a dime in my pocket, I will put on my shoes and start walking.
The point of that chapter is that you should use the talent that God has given you to improve your talent.
It’s not that you should pay back your employer double his investment.
bstix@feddit.dkto Technology@lemmy.world•The "standard" car charger is usually overkill—but your electrician might not know that [32:26]English67·3 days agoIt’s not fucking overkill. There’s no such thing.
I’m really disappointed with the video. That dude usually knows his shit, but he’s way off the mark here. It’s just plain wrong.
Getting a smaller charger might save a few hundred, but it will also increase your chances of burning the house down. Good fucking advise, huh.
Fuck that. You’ll always want to charge as fast as your main circuit breaker will allow.
Yes patterns, but also basic physical resonance.
Sounds in harmony creates more powerful standing waves which will affect your cochlea more than noise.
Whether that is also more pleasant will depend on context, but music will definitely get your attention more easily than random sounds due to this basic physical property.
Pretty much everything in the universe are frequencies. Things that resonate are simply more powerful better than things that don’t.
