cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.deto News@lemmy.world•JD Vance flew to Montana for secret meeting with Billionaire Rupert Murdoch and Fox News executives12·4 days agoThe situation around Trump must be unbelievably tense. With the Epstein troubles and now the health issues Trump might be leaving sooner than expected and everybody must be wondering how to position themselves. Wrong choices might have dire consequences.
cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.deto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why doesn't Trump destroy or modify the Epstein files?26·4 days agoIf they tried to alter or destroy the files there is a good chance it would be found out, which would escalate the situation to a whole different level.
cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.deto Fuck AI@lemmy.world•AI slop is a form of literary and intellectual contamination51·5 days agoWhile I can’t wait for the AI bubble to pop I am also quite relaxed about the cultural consequences of the wide availability of the tools. The market will sort this out quite efficiently: either the slop does provide value, or it doesn’t. If it doesn’t, people won’t pay for it and it will fade into obscurity. If it does, we’ve found a new application for the technology and increased productivity by a small amount.
It’s not the technology itself I find so annoying, but rather the relentless push by the invested companies to make it far more ubiquitous than it deserves to be. But that money will run out, rather soon I hope.

cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.deto politics @lemmy.world•Why Trump Can’t Make the Epstein Story Go Away | His brainwashing powers are finite.25·9 days agoHe will make it go away. One month from now, it will be replaced with other, more pressing issues and his bases as well as the wider populace will just shrug it off. Nothing sticks to him.

It was fun while it lasted.

cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.deto Fuck AI@lemmy.world•What tools do we need in our arsenal to defend against slop?2·14 days agoThat’s pretty much my sentiment. LLMs do have some limited utility but the potential market is comparatively small.
This is an absolutely massive bubble and watching it pop will be quite spectacular.

cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.deto Fuck AI@lemmy.world•What tools do we need in our arsenal to defend against slop?6·16 days agoI believe the market will sort this out. AI slop will only stay relevant in the domain of scammers and spammers, where demand doesn’t count.
cronenthal@discuss.tchncs.deto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•USB Type-C is not up for the challenges it hasEnglish19·16 days agoNot an unpopular opinion but a plain wrong one. I’ve had USB C cables for far longer than the devices they connect to, can’t really remember any of the connectors ever giving me trouble I’ve yet to see a cable/connector fail due to wear. It’s a solid spec and the wide range of uses is brilliant.
American beef is expensive because it is STRONG, not like the WEAK European beef that is cheap.
