Word to word?
I get that cultural change is happening but how much better, if at all, are these employment numbers compared to the Japanese norm? I very much doubt that the touted “great” employment of the article is that great if we didn’t compare it to entire other cultures. Maybe Sony’s Japanese employment would be a good comparison?
Isn’t the latter true for basically all of Japan?
Both of these are excellent but very different thematically. Forever War is much more “space” and “time” where Stranger in a Strange Land is a mostly an Earth story with a critical eye on the being/psychology of humanity (albeit from an “alien” perspective).
I think the original idea by Joe Haldeman is superior. I definitely like both though.
This is how you lose a time war is fantastic I haven’t read Hyperion yet but that’s definitely another vote for Time War.
Gotcha. I’m the kind of person that lets art percolate for sometimes years or decades before I’ll get interested. Hope you find some quality writing.
I get the feeling that the idea of cyberpunk is more about a time period than it is an ever long genre. I’d liken it to more akin to New Wave in sci-fi. Maybe it has more legs than I’m giving it credit for but I remain unconvinced.
Why do you only want something written in the last five years?
Is that ankle bone I see?
I’m glad someone is singing RAN’s praises. It’s frankly unfair that a man, late in life and originally from the black and white days, created this masterpiece full of color that shames most movies made since.
Fry’s had been a living corpse for a decade. You’d have to go as far back as Circuit City to actually get the Fry’s you remember.

Because Return is the “worst” of the trilogy. Also, any top list with Melissa McCarthy in it is immediately invalidated.
Unless he’s now managing that person. Then it’s industry! Don’t mind us, we are just out here creating jobs.
I really hated Steinbeck because of required reading in school. I’d decried him at every opportunity since. I dunno what made me take a third chance a few years ago, or honestly a proper chance of my own choosing, but I somehow landed on East of Eden. The book did not disappoint; I was deeply engrossed in it from start to finish. Five stars from me (which I don’t do often) and I really hope you enjoy it.
The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester
The original cyberpunk story.
If it looks like a duck, Quacks like a duck, and hangs out with ducks….
