fckreddit@lemmy.mlto Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Vibe coding service Replit deleted production database5·3 days agoI was literally waiting for this to happen and considering that they were giving coding LLMs more and more control over the production servers, this was bound to happen.
No sodas or candies then.
When I figured this stuff out, on my own, it was the greatest feeling in the world.
This always bothered the hell out of me. Why do they look like they are elves from middle earth, except they are wearing somewhat ragged clothes?

There is no reason to think that torturing and killing kids will solve global warming. In short, it is a useless hypothetical that adds nothing to the discussion about solving the problem. Meaning it useless, while you get to pretend that you are somehow smart. Newsflash: you are not.
Thanks Gus. I love you too. Gus Gus’s hooman please pet Gus for me.
This really doesn’t sound healthy.
Creation implies effort and intention. I see neither in this comic.
Learn how to do art. It’s literally that simple. There are hundreds of tutorials of all kinds.

This entire situation is depressing. We started with poisoning our environment, but now we are poisoning and destroying the very fabric of human ingenuity and creativity in our endeavours. All for chasing some abstract economic valuation.

I agree that LLMs have some business utility, but they are being marketed as tools that replace humans wholesale, not as tools with limited business utility.
This is the shit that happens when you unleash a program that just makes shit up more than 60% of the time. Money men are hailing it as the greatest thing in the world, but from from a social perspective, it is nothing but a disaster. It is designed to replace creative art with automated crap that makes everything we enjoy making or experiencing worse, be it games, music, movies and even software.
Even if LLMs were perfect in their capabilities to mimic humans, I would still not use them, because simply mimicking humans doesn’t make them able to replace humans, just as being able to recite Shakespeare doesn’t make anyone an expert on him.
