I have two laptops with broken hinges right now. Metal and other materials help with hinge support. plastic and constant use will break most hinges.
I used to do laptop repair, its a pretty common thing to replace.
One of the benefits on being such a small place is that the big players dont know we exist so we get MUCH less DMCAs, legal action, etc…etc… plus its the same issue of p2p but with media. Its easy to shut down one site, much harder to/force/fine one site. Much harder on instances.
Yes but no. Physical access sure. Software access, probably not. Also more depends more on the os than the firmware.
Yep you can see Mastodon to Lemmy and back again. Piefed goes a step further and pull comments from both platforms.
I think on reddit they said that a vast majority of content “posts” is made by a very small amount of users. I think it was less than 5% made 90% or something like that. I’m seeing the same dynamic on Lemmy/Piefed/ect…
When it comes down to it, power users are still a thing and getting them onboard on a platform helps quite a bit.
It’s doing well but I would love to see more videos without the need for YouTube.
Wonder how long it will take for them to start going after LGBT+ stuff. Hope I’m wrong.
Love 100 rabbits! They have some very interesting projects and articles.
Peertube for me. Ive found some people who dont post on yt or other places. Plus my dog has a channel with over 300 subscribers. Makes me happy.
I remember that a long time ago. Oh god
Heh yeah yaml is another one.
Yeah totally agree.
Explicit vs implicit. Ive always liked it being explicit like that. It’s better than magic keywords in say ruby.
Personally the “spaces are code” gets on my nerves for the same reason. It’s implicit to the language so you just have to remember.
Probably tetris.

A great read on the referenced paper.
Yeah thats fair.
Im running the equivalent to a pi 5 so yeah it can run with a slight delay. You may have some issues with the spikes, definitely if its more than a couple of people. 4GB in total, you will probably have to figure out if its worth it.
Also updates sometimes borks the server. Ive stopped updating until I have time to really sit down and understand what changed.
Its running about 1GB for me and my server setup. It spikes a bit if there is a lot going on, but it can get low than that when its just idling. Its not terrible, but given irc and other clients which take MB for RAM…its a bit of a hog-ish.
Thanks, good info either way. I was thinking of getting a fairphone since my pixel may catch the case of exploding battery at some point. And eink screens sound like a dream.
