I waited to see if Sony would come to their senses with Slim or Pro but I guess Sony is back to being Sony when they don’t have to try. I despise monopolies so I go with the underdog when I can.
Both platforms run all modern games and there’s very little exclusives on both. Performance wise they’re the same and automatic VRR on everything is awesome. XSX was significantly cheaper at the time too and that’s before taking into account how much value GamePass provides. If Microsoft wasn’t exiting the market I’d say it’s a better choice today too.

At this point I’m wondering why they haven’t sold it to Oracle or Tencent just to get more coal for their AI money pits.

Series S sells multiples of Series X and GamePass is cheap. We live in the age of overabundance of all kinds of media so there’s is crapload of games, and exclusive situation doesn’t look that bad compared to PS5, mostly because PS5 is bad too. I went with XSX because of the looks but that was before Microsoft went insane.

Microsoft published their previous games as Xbox exclusives so it’s safe to assume some kind of relationship existed. Microsoft stabbed lots of their employees in the back recently.

Whether you use it to pirate or hack in multiplayer, they don’t really care, you’re not supposed to do either and they take that device off their network. I usually pay for games because second hand market exists but I also won’t condemn piracy because some can’t afford even that. It’s the expectation that a company like Nintendo has to take it under the guise of consumer protection that I find funny, bad political takes too.

The best way to avoid getting banned from a Nintendo service is not to hack your device.

If you hacked in Splatoon you buy a new Switch but your library is retained.

I prefer how Nintendo goes about it (locking hacked device) compared to Valve or Sony where your entire game library gets locked. As someone with a banned Switch I think that’s fair, I can pirate things on it anyway. Nobody said piracy has to be easy and I enjoy a bit of cat and mouse.

I know it’s cool to dunk on Nintendo and sometimes it’s an actual moral obligation but I prefer not to lose sight of facts. There’s lots of bad PR against Nintendo lately, mostly based on unverified claims of anonymous people. It gets tiring that
journalistsmediaworkers care only about clicks.

misk@sopuli.xyzto Autism@lemmy.world•What's the biggest issue you have re your condition atm?1·8 days agoThis seems like it would work but I refuse to add more noise pollution to account for breaking the law. Introducing hazards to race tracks is more enjoyable (and very effective, racers rarely want to clean up hazards from the race track because it would mean they’re thinking of someone else). If the police ever gets interested enough to look for the source of hazard their presence should prevent races from taking place too.
misk@sopuli.xyzto Autism@lemmy.world•What's the biggest issue you have re your condition atm?4·8 days agoIt’s not the constant background noise/hum that gets me but the occasional car/bike zooming through the streets to the point where things start to vibrate while also sounding like the most annoying mosquito. Even though I’m almost 40 I can still hear very high frequency sounds (like those devices to scare away animals) and fast vehicles seem to go into similar register. ANC headphones don’t block it well either since they’re tuned for low frequency sounds.
misk@sopuli.xyzto Autism@lemmy.world•What's the biggest issue you have re your condition atm?13·8 days agoMy hearing is very sensitive. Over the past couple of years there has been a significant increase of number of motorcycles and street racing in my country. Loads of vehicles are illegally tuned exceed permissible noise pollution norms. Police does fuck all about it. It’s summer so I have to keep windows open at night to cool down my flat. I can’t sleep with ear plugs because they bother me too much. I barely sleep.

I think it’s not that surprising that an arcade racer doesn’t support niche sim wheels. They do support plenty of popular brands though.
