Oh, it does? I didn’t see that.

Says the person that has apparently never modded any popular community 🙄
Lemmy explicitly started hiding the names from the modlog because users bullying mods is a much bigger issue than the reverse due to the asymetry of lots of users having main-character-syndrom Vs. only a few mods having to deal with all that.
Seems to be a classic case of Goodhart’s law turned bad.
Afaik it is only compatible with Mastodon and similar software, not Lemmy.
You should be able to follow a video channel on Owncast from Mastodon etc. and get updates that way.
The login with Fedi feature is afaik only to join the chat that is displayed next to the video stream.
I think the main issue with Owncast is that it is AFAIK single user, otherwise it works very nicely.
The Fediverse integration of the chat is definitely better in Owncast as well, but in Peertube you can make it federate via XMPP with a little bit of extra effort, which is also nice.
GL-inet devices are usually available on Amazon and similar places: https://www.gl-inet.com/compare/?series=home-router
They come with a customized version of OpenWRT, but usually you can also flash vanilla OpenWRT on them, check the status of the exact device here: https://toh.openwrt.org/?view=normal
Ok, so I despise the “realos” in the German Greens and think the Greens have already moved far to the right in recent years, but personal opinions aside, who else is going to weaken the CDU so that a CDU+AfD government becomes impossible?
The SPD is maybe able to capture a bit of it if they stop being completely brain-dead, but there is a large centrist wing of CDU supporters that would never vote for them, but have shown to be willing to vote for the Greens under certain circumstances.
All the anti-green rhetoric of the right-wing part of the CDU/CSU is precisely because they know that the Greens are their main competition for voters.
Isn’t that just an artifact of Hetzner having a big datacenter in Helsinki?
The Swiss have the right idea to scale fines according to income.
Rent a cheap VPS and run Wireguard on it.
There are other options to achive the same goal 🤷
German politicians and politics are deeply provincial, and most simply don’t care about the effects of their politics on other european countries as long as it is good in the short term for some local business from their constituency.
These gangs would be immediatly out of business if you could, you know, just take a regular ferry or the tunnel they made some time ago 🙄
Selfhosting and using the centralized MitM service from Cloudflare seems directly contradictory to me 🤷
The article explains that this will not affect prices in general, but specifically identify individuals that have no choice but to buy even at a higher price and charge them extra. It is unlikely to cause a drop in usage, as it only effects people that need to fly urgently for some reason.
Imagine the USSR setting up a telephone hotline with “helpful advise” for foreign government officials… this is literally the 21st century version of that.
I mean there’s nothing wrong with bouncing ideas off a chatbot.
Is what you literally said. As the PM of a country there is a lot wrong with doing that, as these chats are not private and the other side allows the CIA etc. to directly listen in.
There is no principal problem with bridging to another open system, but Bluesky is not. This is no different from federating with Meta’s Threads, which most people on the Fediverse seem to be against as well.
