China has an ambitious urbanization plan, so they’re building the cities before there are people actually living there to get ahead of demand. It’s not like China has a shortage of people to live in these cities and they have central planning, they can just move production into these developments and people will move there for work. In fact, it’s happening right now. They don’t just build empty cities that just sit empty forever.
Rent seekers are parasites and the world would be better off without them.
They are unproductive exploiters and can and should be completely replaced.
That’s not a different discussion, though.
If tools were collectively owned, for instance, they could be kept in a community tool locker/garage that the whole community would own and be able to borrow whenever needed. “Rent” would be replaced by a small fee paid into the community to maintain the tools, not some profit seeking parasitism from a renter looking to exploit people’s need for tools.
Renting isn’t the problem. Renters are.
That’s not a reason for anyone to make money from rents.
I’m pretty sure Hamas uses “settler” to refer to the Europeans and their descendents, because Israel is an active settler-colonial project.

Lake Erie was dead from pollution. The Cuyahoga River in Ohio was so polluted it caught fire.
I misunderstood the examples given, I figured they were filled with trash, looking it up I see trash was only part of the problem.
But that doesn’t actually change my point! Cleaning up toxic waste at a single lake or river site isn’t the same as cleaning the atmosphere of the entire fucking planet. It’s absurd to put these on the same scale as climate change.
We don’t even have the technology to clean the atmosphere on a human timescale, and it might not even be possible.
I already mentioned CFC’s which required global cooperation on a scale never seen before.
CFCs were only emitted from a few specific industries and could be eliminated with existing alternatives, and they weren’t the basis for the entire economy. CFCs are also not present in the atmosphere for very long and they decay very quickly, and were only present at a little over 1 part per billion. They’re already falling because eliminating them was easy.
We’re at 415 parts per million in CO2 concentrations. That’s orders of magnitude in difference, and the carbon that is already present will take multiple human lifetimes to be removed via natural means. And it’s still getting worse.
CFCs were baby shit compared to this crisis of civilization.
EDIT Oh I forgot, wanna know something funny? Those CFC alternatives we’re using actually contribute to climate change.
Everything is bigger than anying human history because we have more people.
That also means we have more enemies, and at the moment those enemies are controlling the US government.
This has nothing to do with being a “good” person.
That said.
They could create a housing cooperative where all the tenants are owner-members and share the property collectively. If they live in the building too they can also be an equal owner-member. If they live somewhere else, they have to give up ownership.

Now, consider the fact that they used “settler” and “IDF” separately. That tells me that they actually don’t believe every single Jew in Israel is a settler, and in fact they are referring specifically to the illegal settler movement that is actively and continually stealing more land as we speak.
So. All members of the active and ongoing settler movement and IDF members. At this point, no IDF member can be assumed innocent, and the settlers are already breaking the law.
By being landlords or personally knowing landlords.

Climate change isn’t the same as cleaning up litter? It’s on a global scale of gigatons of emissions, involving every industrialized nation all interacting together with the environment.
This is bigger than anything in human history. Stop fucking comparing it to cleaning up some fucking tires in a river.

A lot of those slugs own salt shakers, is the thing. Small business owners and landlords and slugs with stock/property investments are, themselves, salting other slugs. There’s also some slugs which have been promoted to salt shaker shakers, so even if they don’t own the salt shakers themselves they still get to use it and benefit from it.
They’re fine getting a little salt as long as they can keep salting the people under them.
The second part applies, to lesser degrees, to a large part of the world. Such as the USA.
