Problem is, you can only know you are not properly informed by learning at least a bit about something. Or the other way around: the more you specialise in a field the more you learn how little you know.

Well said. As a doctor I am just worried that sometimes it might not be what they really want. Obviously, people often want and do what is not best for them due to psychological “distortions”.
How can this be differentiated of body dysphoria disorders where one perceives their own body as overly flawed or distorted without it being like that? Serious question. I am genuinely concerned about this.
That’s what I was also thinking and can understand. What I don’t understand is to really physically alter and damage your body to match your physiology to your desired gender. Is this really necessary? In the end it’s only a superficial change as well and factually and genetically you will still be of a certain biological sex.
There are parts of the world which are doing fine/haven’t changed. And people can ignore things happening somewhere else quite good or just gettung used to it. We had decades of cold war with the looming immediate annihilation of all humanity and people still did fine.

Or we could just abolish all these gender stereotypes and acknowledge everyone has one biological sex (except rare genetic variants) but it doesn’t matter and no one has to know which genitals you have in everyday life.
That’s what bothers ma a bit about “being trans”. Why is it considered as having the wrong biological sex and not just disrupting the gender stereotypes?

You can also just ask if it was wrong. Of course there are situations were it was wrong and the other person won’t tell you or it wasn’t wrong but then by asking you made it a only a bit weird. But at least the other person will know that you are unsure/bad with such situations instead of thinking you are an asshole or what else.
saimen@feddit.orgto A Comm for Historymemes@lemmy.world•"Now find your dance partners and pair off!"English2·10 days agoGreat read thank you very much!
I would summarize that it is true that line formations were vital and usually the starting point, but on the other hand the main strategic goal was to break the line of the opponent so at some point the formations would break and it would become more chaotic, but not as extreme as multiple 1 vs 1 and rather splitting the other army in half or more pieces.
Just say it then: I feel like that was inappropriate, sorry.
saimen@feddit.orgto A Comm for Historymemes@lemmy.world•"Now find your dance partners and pair off!"English171·10 days agoIs it true though? In the above example, the attackers could just concentrate their attack on one side forcing the defenders to support there and thus weaking the line elsewhere which then can be attacked in return. So in reality I think it is really difficult to hold such a formation.
Wasn’t that the great advantage of the Romans that they trained this kind of stuff a lot and thus were actually able to more or less hold these formations.
But I would guess most battles ended up looking more or less like the lower example.
You have to keep in mind no one had this kind of bird view and no one could directly tell every soldier what to do while at the battlefield. So every soldier in the end is just fighting for their own survival eventually resulting in chaos.
Yeah, like why should we germans even be bothered by US Americans talking about Nazi Germany? We talk about it even more ourselves anyways.
Yeah, this whole thought process is such an american way of thinking and an image of what’s wrong with the US.
This is not a popularity contest in high school.
In contrast germans are terrified whats happening in the US because they are much more aware of their past and clearly see the analogies and what all this can lead to.
No. They are usually superconducting magnets in persistent mode:
