He had it from being ordered to massacre a group of unarmed women, children, and elderly people and having to do it. It was a little bit more understandable than just that (it was said to be a miscommunication), but still not great. There was another thing, involving the death of his wife, but I’m not spoiling that. The character is named Boone. I recommend the game heavily, as many people do, for many reasons.
