Quilted Northern bathroom tissue is made by Georgia-Pacific, which is owned by the Koch Brothers. Quilted Northern helps fund the Heritage Foundation which wrote Project 2025 and ushered in this new age of fascism.
Could I bother you to try a different brand? Charmin is an excellent alternative.
Noted, thank you! We’ll make the switch right away
I’ll throw my weight behind Who Gives A Crap. It ships to you directly on a subscription service and it’s made of bamboo.
I thought you were being a sarcastic asshole until that second sentence lmao
That’s reason #3 to like them. A big box on your doorstep that says Who Gives A Crap.
This looks promising!
Imagine pooping like a savage and using bits of paper to wipe your bottom
How ethical is Kirkland Signature (Costco store brand) toilet paper?
Costco has an excellent record of corporate responsibility (compared to the current line up of American businesses) and their Kirkland stuff is great. The bath tissue is very narrow compared to others and doesn’t feel as plush. It’s fine but not my first pick.
Charmin is an excellent alternative.
We used to use Charmin until they started doing pop up ads.
I just don’t need to be advertised to in those moments in my life.
Not what I was expecting from “pop up” given the context… but ya know what? I’m okay with that.
Target brand tp - the one in green packaging - has surprisingly good score by Sierra club or whoever does ratings on sustainability.
Put a bidet attachment on the seat, Saves your ass, cleans your ass. No more ass smell.
OP, before last weekend
Now install a bidet
I’ll never go back to my pre-bidet self.
A job well done. Hope you got the beer you deserved (or something to your taste)
Nice, but it’s the tiling job around the logs that impresses me the most.
Ha ha don’t be impressed, that’s cheap 80’s imitation tile and it’s basically cardboard.
I would have kept quiet about that ;)
I could talk toilets for hours. When I bought my house I spent a week pulling the 6 toilets out, scrubbing them outside, installing all new hardware and gaskets then reinstalling. -Only to find they were all horrible toilets.
I started replacing them one by one trying different brands and options. My favorite is the Champion one piece. It’s a beast to install because it’s literally one giant piece of porcelain. But that also means less chance for a leak in 30 years.
I just had to replace the gasket between the tank and the bowl, along with bolts and fiber washers, because one of ours failed and leaked water from the tank onto the floor, damaging the hardwood. Protip: you need to tighten those three bolts more than you think.
I also just had to replace these on a house i moved into. The ones i took off were wing nuts… the back one was free spinning.
Replaced that whole seal and assembly instantly

About 8 months ago I put in one of the giant one piece porcelain toilets. I got it at Costco in Canada and brought it back to the States. That was an interesting trip through the border crossing back into the USA.
CBP: “Anything to declare?”
Me: “No booze, weapons, or tobacco, but I do have a brand new toilet in the back”
CBP: “You’re free to go”It was cheaper than any other dual flush single piece toilet I could find here in the States and I’ve liked its performance in the months since putting it in service.
What makes them horrible toilets?
During the 90’s water usage limits were placed on toilets. Instead of improving the design, manufacturers only made the tanks smaller which didn’t provide enough flushing force.
Anything more than one piece of toilet paper could cause a clog.
Current toilets use a larger flush valve or multiple flaps for a more powerful flush than a 1970’s toilet while using half the water.
I like the rope trim along the log wall. A creative way to fill the gap!
Funny, I came here to say how gross I thought that was, especially in a bathroom, because it’s impossible to clean.
Wait a second, how can somebody who lives in a genuine log cabin be posting in !dull_mens_club? That’s not dull at all!
We are bathroom brothers of 80’s fake tile board. Just bought this house and this is on the list to get remodeled.
Woah, crazy! We’re working on the bathroom as money allows, and that’s one of the things slated to go. It’s so cheap, basically cardboard with a tile pattern
Is that something like vinyl on a board? Pre-mounted linoleum, almost.
You didn’t forget a TP holder! That’s better than me!
Add silicone where the toilet connects to the floor. Avoids water running under the toilet if you mop the floor
I had one with super old innards where the flapper came off but it could not just have the flapper changed so had to do the full repair kit thing. So even duller since did not have to actually lift the toilet just the tank. But it was this last weekend.
I see, you are taking care of shit.
If you get around to caulking around the base, remember to leave rear section open. It’ll allow you to see the puddle of water if there is ever a leak from the wax/foam ring failing.
- throw in one of those tp holders so you don’t have the bag and can pile em up.
- can’t see - but the tp racks that are slide on /off are much better than the squeeze to release variety
