      I love this comm. I really wish Lemmy had an equivalent of AskHistorians on reddit though. That was probably the highest quality sub on that site imo.

      Edit: also just had an idea for a comm: AskNonHistorians

      People can ask questions and they get answers full of inaccuracies and nonsense. (Obviously there would need to be strict rules against genocide denial and other forms of shitbaggery)

    The secret is that you really don’t have to know anything to make a meme, because the people who don’t know the subject outnumber the ones who do, and will accept anything on a meme as long as it’s amusing and doesn’t contradict any of their politics. In this case the obvious implication is that Assyria had different capitals, but for all I know (along with most people) those years could just be random numbers.

    I recently went to google the name of the last capital of Western Rome, and the autocomplete was “what was the last capital of Assyria?”
