the actual answer is that the curls are brushed which is essentially a minor thing that make some people feel like they’re better than others, hence why the unbrushed version is the version that the guy would cheat on (worse) and the main girl is “better”

the different ideas in the comments are KILLING me though. I think the ‘tight curls = tight grip on dick’ theory is the funniest one

I am a biological woman. I identify as such. I don’t know what the same person plus 30+ minutes with a curling iron has to do with cheating. Effort? Vanity? This is far, far beyond me somehow. I am also very old so there’s that.

I think you helped me crack it, i think it’s saying that the person who looks like you but puts in more effort to their appearance on the regular is more attractive. That makes sense to me, and would be true in the main for most people, it’s one of the most common things said to people who are struggling to find partners.

You could take negative connotations from that about that person being vain but really it should be on the cheater for being a fucking cheater.

Nah. My wife has naturally wavy hair. She goes to work with it blow-dried, flattened, and a little plain-looking. On weekends she does none of those things, and it looks gorgeous and wavy and bouncy. Maybe I just have a definite preference – Even Jen Psaki on the TV - gorgeous already - looks better in her other, more natural style, and she’s probably got advisors telling her to vamp it up.

Ok, as a man, I can see that these are two different hairstyles. Visually, it’s obviously the same person but with slightly different configurations of hair. Where I’m lost is that this meme seems to imply that one is better than the other. Which is the superior look? I don’t know. That doesn’t mean I cannot differentiate between the two, it means I am out of touch with whatever is stylish at the moment. There’s nothing objectively more or less beautiful in these photos. Maybe one style is easier to maintain, and the difference is supposed to sugest that one of them takes better care of their hair? Or maybe they are too fussy and vain to a fault? This is specialized knowledge that can only be shared via communication. You cannot discover it on your own like some scientific truth. You must learn it from someone else who knows.

The people who are snarky about people not knowing something like this are the worst sort of snobs. Not only are they mocking people who haven’t been included in the secret, they are wasting an opportunity to share knowledge to do it.

The only people paying attention to nuanced differences in women’s hairstyles are other women. Most men wouldn’t notice a minor difference like this lol. I’ve joked about this with my wife before. Only other women pay attention to women’s outfits and hair. Men don’t notice or care. We’re interested in other things lol.

It’s like that study that showed that the size of men’s pecs are of interest to other men, women don’t really look at them as indicators of attractiveness

        #notallwomen sweeping generalisation etc etc

Let other people enjoy their preferences. Some people get very particular about console/IDE fonts, keyboard switches, T-shirt fabric blends, fork shape, guitar string material, etc. Others like fashion and style. Some like architecture and interior design. Let people enjoy things, and get deep in the weeds on minute differences if they want to.

It’s a similar story with cars, unless you’re driving an exotic of some type, only other car people care.

My wife gets mad at me when she asks my opinion between different shoes. “Which ones are more comfortable?” They both look great, but we’re going to be standing and walking a lot.

Haha yea. Same. She’ll show me 2 pairs of shoes that look almost exactly the same and demand that I choose haha. But to be fair, there are plenty of things I show her that she doesn’t give a shit about. So at least it’s equal on that front :-P.

Could be internalised patriarchy. Sometimes, when women ask a mans opinion on a few options, they’re not actually interested in the man’s opinion. They want to hear their own opinion, just said in a mans voice.
