Waaay back in 2002 a mate of mine very drunkenly espoused his theory that WWIII was going to be caused by Israel because “that Netanyahu cunt is a fucking maniac”

    Nailed it, Pete.

Israel’s actions in the past couple years have all seemed like sorta a desperate attempt to leverage the US Hegemony that’s protected them, before the US buckles.

Sorta like imagine a kid in Grade 1 who’s a total racist bully to his classmates. But the kid has an older brother in grade 6 who has no issue beating the shit outta any Grade 1 kid who fights back. When the older brother nears the transition to middle school – at which point the younger will lose his protection – the younger brother starts instigating like crazy, to try and establish dominance while still protected.

That is not a conclusion that can be reached from: Israel government almost devolves but is saved by a vote to bomb a foreign nation explicitly to piss off Trump and detail his negotiations with Iran?

Israeli society is sick and genocidal, “Bibi” (why are you using the fascist’s favorite pet name btw? Leave they for the fascists) is not the sole problem.

You’re right, Iran is a religious ethno state and you’re smart enough to recognize that as a bad thing, but when it comes to literal Jewish ISIS (Israel), you have to make an exception.

Don’t bring up other countries I didn’t defend, I’m simply asking you to make a case for Israel to be built as a Jewish supremacist state on land already lived on by a majority non Jewish native population, forcing the ethnostate to genocide them just to exist.

Make a case for Israel that isn’t “Europeans felt guilty for the Holocaust so they declared Jews are allowed to Holocaust anyone and gave them Palestine”

Trump is a convicted felon, yet there was/is no political will to imprison him. The ruling class doesn’t give a shit if one of their members commits crimes or war crimes or even genocide. As long as they their ability to hoard extreme wealth is unaffected, they don’t care.

Its crazy how much stronger Israel’s position would be if they got rid of this old, incompetent babbling idiot. Israel’s incapability to effectively govern itself just shows that most of their problems are of their own making.

Netanyahu has been on and off power in Israel over the past three decades.

Looking at Smotrich, Ben Gvir and the like, the even more fascist right is not going to be any better. Meanwhile what considers itself the “left” in Israel is still very much genocidal and imperialist.

Just like Trump, Netanyahu isn’t the root cause, just an aggravating symptom of the issues in the society.

Meanwhile what considers itself the “left” in Israel is still very much genocidal and imperialist.

Until recently I would have agreed with you (other than the actual hard-left which consists of Hadash, Ta’al and Balad, two of them being explicitly Palestinian parties), but recently, and also a few times in the past, the leader of the Israeli Democrats (a new party with a terrible name) said some really based stuff which is a step in the right direction if nothing else. And now they’re trying to take away his military credentials, which just shows that he’s right. But even he can’t abandon liberal Zionism, and a bit of militarism, if he wants anyone to listen to him.

It’s more that the left is small and insignificant, because it has many of the same problems as the left in other right-wing countries: it advertises to a progressive middle class, and completely ignores the lower classes who would most benefit from its policies.

Left-wing policies in Israel will certainly help disadvantaged people, but left-wing (Zionist) parties talk about abstract ideals like “democracy”, instead of material conditions. And citizens who struggle under the cost of living, almost or actually in poverty, don’t care about the type of government they have: they care about surviving to the next day, and left-wing parties have just given up on trying to get their vote.

Essentially my point here is that Israeli society is not fundamentally incompatible with left-wing ideas or policies (leading eventually, hopefully, to anti-Zionism), but left-wing parties have consistently ignored those who need them most, leading them to the right and to distrust the left, effectively digging their own grave.

You are confirming my point imo. The parties and people that consider themselves left are still Zionist. They do not oppose genocide against Palestinians because it is wrong to mass murder people. They oppose it because they see the long term consequences for Israel. They are not willing to stop the settlement expansion, leave alone remove the settlements and end the illegal occupation.

The “based” statements you refer to come now, as the genocidal rhetoric has become completely unhinged and Israel is unable to maintain the narratives even in allied countries. This is not done out of ethical conviction, but to present themselves as “reasonable” alternative to Netanyahu and an option to get back to the status quo. The status quo of ethnic cleansing and imperial expansion slow enough for Israels allies to be able to look the other way.

Anti-zionist and therefore anti-fascists are a fringe minority in the Israel society.

That being said, I also hate to agree with Israel atm because Iran having nuclear weapons is a world ending scenario. Let me remind people that it’s one of the few theocratic countries that still exist which is dominated by religion that has “death to all but us” enshrined as the “word of god”.

If you think it’s muslims that want to bring about armageddon, I dare you to look up ‘Israel red heiffers.’ Turns out all that “muslims want the end of the world” rhetoric is just projection, and it’s actually our evangelical/zionist leaders that are pushing their prophecy of rapture onto the world (successfully.) Islam’s only involvement in that gospel is to prevent the rapture, but sure, they’re the bad guys right?

Yes they are the bad guys and I say this as someone who comes from Islamic background. Zionists and christian extremists are bad guys too but that’s beside the point as Islam is fundamentally evil because the original texts are literal words of god not interpretative texts (like other religions) so Islam can never correct itself and the original texts literally say to murder people. Like wtf, dude read Quran and see for yourself.

Dude I don’t get why are you so protective of it. It literally says “it’s literal god of word” in the book several times:

“Nor does he [Muhammad] speak from [his own] desire. It is nothing but a revelation revealed.” Surah 53:3-4

“And recite what has been revealed to you of the Book of your Lord. None can change His words.” Surah 18:27

“And indeed, it [the Qur’an] is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. The Trustworthy Spirit [Gabriel] has brought it down Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] — that you may be of the warners.” Surah 26:192-194

That’s just from quick google of the top of my head.

It’s literally the biggest problem of Islam because radicals always can fall back to Quran being literal and win every single time and excuse any action because they have back up. It’s literally the curse of Islam and it’s incredibly sad and white washing this is not helping anyone.

“Literal god of word” okay buddy. And famously the bible never says anything about Jesus being the “literal word of god” or anything. I’m choosing to direct my anger at the religion that’s actually doing a genocide and trying ennact their apocalyptic prophecy, you’re choosing to direct your anger at the religion that isn’t doing those things.

I wonder what made them so radical, it couldn’t be that nato has been waging war in middle east for thirty or so years

Crazy I know. If only there was infinite source of free information you could access and confirm yourself. Guess we’re out of luck :|

Bibi will do anything to keep Israel in a state of emergency. Good for his extreme right buddies but foremost better for himself. As long there is some war going on, their cabinet stays in power and him out of jail for his fraud conviction. Him and his Zionist extremists are cancer for Israel and the region.

I feel like the narrative that Bibi is just doing this to stay out of jail ignores that the majority of Israeli’s approve of what he’s doing and would not seek a jail term for him, let alone the fact that the rest of the Israeli government would not prosecute. I’d be glad to be wrong, but it feels like blaming one bad apple just lets Zionism as a whole off the hook.

Yup, this is all self-preservation to him from the start. Watch him keep this going for a few more years, then come up with an excuse to “delay” the election.
